Hi,
I recently moved from ubuntu to openbsd 4.7 since in this release they
included support for atheros 5212 wireless chipsets. However, I am having
problem getting my wireless connection working. My wireless router is
netgear and it supports 3 ports. I have 2 machines running on other ports
just fine. After installing openbsd4.7, I read "man afterboot" and went
ahead with configuration described in man pages, i.e.,
#ifconfig ath0 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0 NONE nwid <nwid> nwkey <nwkey>
after the above wireless card indicator on the computer turned green. As
suggested I also created /etc/hostname.ath0 file and added one line since my
router is dhcp enabled
# cat /etc/hostname.ath0
dhcp
Also, "ifconfig ath0" shows status as active with the correct values for all
other parameters. But dhclient ath0 simply times out with no DHCP offers
coming back. I am also unable to ping any machine on www, other than what I
gave in the ifconfig (192.168.1.3).
"route show" and "nestat -an" show that 192.168.1.3 with flag UG, so I am
assuming that is good?.
