Turning off kudzu is fine if the system doesnt undergo hardware changes.
Hal daemon is required for many of desktop application especially the
GNOME ones. You might want to try updating your apps by running yum
update and otherwise report this issue in

The computer has no hardware issues, as it is a dual boot with Windows XP
and I have no probs in XP.

Hi all
1)I want to upgrade Fedora core 1 to Fedora core 3 in a Live Server. How
will i do it. Should i need to use YUM or any other tool, or do i need to
reinstall to Fedora Core 3. Please suggest me.
I am sure there is an upgrade option in the fc3 cd which upgrades the
system without touching user files.
But why go in for fc3 when fc5 is out
Also if yum still gets the updates then why should u need an upgrade to fc3,
the numbers fc1, fc3 are immaterial when u have all your software upto-date

during this year !

Try physics, chemistry, biotechnology, economics and you will see
atleast 3 of the top 4 to be indian cities. Infact most "tech" related

Hi All;
I have a Suse 10 system with me. I recently recompiled KDE 3.5.2 from
sources and installed it. After installation i find that KDM is unable to
get permissions for the current user to /dev/dsp. Any ideas on this ? Do i
need to a chown $USER somewhere ?

Hi,
I would like to know as to how I can input unicode
characters based on their number in
gedit/bluefish/xchat. Currently using Ubuntu Dapper
Beta on x86.
I am able to copy the text (Latin characters, for
example) as such from a web page, and paste it to
gedit/bluefish/xchat.
But, if I need to key-in directly, how do I go about
doing it?
I don't have a Latin keyboard indicator in Ubuntu
Dapper Beta, only Latin American and it doesn't seem
to have Latin characters.
Any suggestions?

I doubt it for two reasons:
1) A search on google.cn/trends still turns up Chennai.
2) Some keywords don't come up in India (Astronomy, for example)
