In my Dial-up connection, Bytes sent is more than bytes received.

On that particular day I was only downloading mails. Is it possible to
teminate the TCP connections(any freeware?) that are are not initiated from
my machine?
I have not installed firewall, and Iam using windows 2000. Since the mail
downloading is getting slower and slower, plz mail me the links to
understand/solve this problem.
