Hello Friends,
GNU/Linux can be used to reduce the Ewaste. There are many
small Linux, LTSP that can help in doing so. But sadly these distributions
are not popular. Old computers can be used as ThinClients too, there are
LTSP packages for almost all the major distribution.Ubuntu has a separate
LTS edition for ThinClients. Through OPENMaRUN i intend to popularize the
methods of increasing the life span of.
A question that comes to mind is "Where can these OLD computers be
used??"Use thin clients of office work which does not require high
processing,like using OpenOffice.
We can Cluster them.There can be lots of thing that can be done with
GNU/LINUX on old computer.
How can I Contribute?
->By trying out GNU/Linux on old computers and making a list of compatible
hardware.
->If you have old computer and want to reuse it send its hardware
configuration to OPENMaRUN.org.
Contribution in cleaning Ewaste will be acknowledge on the OPENMaRUN.org
website.We all are responsible for our environment and should take all
possible steps to save it. Once gone it will never be the same again.
