Another possible option is to request the users to create a separate id for
all their
mailing lists and keep it for that alone. I have even seen on person have
ids like this
foo+arch@xxxxxxxxx <foo%2Barch@xxxxxxxxx>
foo+ilugc@xxxxxxxxx <foo%2Bilugc@xxxxxxxxx>
foo+personal@xxxxxxxxx <foo%2Bpersonal@xxxxxxxxx>
foo+formal@xxxxxxxxx <foo%2Bformal@xxxxxxxxx> etc
