2.1 so what, why should i write about all that/broadcast/telecast all that
We request you to write about the computer usage in daily walk of
life. You see computers at a Dtp shop, Internet cafe, Provision store
etc. Bring out the parameter of legitamacy of the software used in
these places. Generally people are more concern about buying the
computers, is just buying the hardware parts(spares which you can
touch and feel).People not concern about the legality of software copy
installed on the machine. Pirated VCDs of movie is hunted by the
police because of the film industries pressure. While Software pirated
cds will be sooner or later hunted under the same spectrum of crime.
Buying Legitimate software cost money . Having bought a software
doesnt mean to make a copy of the software , The case of buying the
second machine forces the user to buy the second copy of the software.
FLOSS (Free Libre/Open Source software) is one which is available free
of cost and you can copy and use the software for any number of
machine you have. With FLOSS you can distribute the software to your
friends for their use. FLOSS is open source, which means you can
modify the software to fit your need, for feature which may not be
there in its original form. With proprietary software one has to buy
operating system, office packages , 3rd party tools like a pdf viewer,
cd toasting software separately, with FLOSS it is bunch of software ,
most of the common requirement can be catered with floss.
2.2 who says all the above?why has nobody signed it?if its wrong, who will
authenticate this?

" stuff can i get?

which is an alternative to the popular OS which is used. The programme
is focused on the awareness about floss. Hands on report about free
softwares in action, which can be used in an office for word
processing, spread sheet, presentation manager. You get the news about
FSF(Free software Foundation) philosphy, how the operating system
installed. How an office/home can be supported with FLOSS.We are show
casing Linux demo day where we are demonstrating educational softwares
which are free of cost, we are also going to demostrate software
which is widely suits an office/ home environment.
2.5 whom should i contact for knowing more about all this, in chennai
Our forum www.chennailug.org is one resource place where you get
guidance and support for free of cost from the experts. You can mail
the issues on linux and it will be discussed, may it be adminstrative
or technical aspects of the software.We meet every second saturday of
month. So direct interaction on FLOSS can be discussed.

LINUX DEMO DAY about 9:30am to 4:00 pm.
2.7 who will attend
School teachers from 25 schools(2 teachers per school) are invited by
the tamil nadu science and technological center.
School students of strength of 200 to 250 approximately.(This is the
strength of students who visit birla planetarium (audience for linux
demo day).
Colleges are to be invited.(Mailers to be send to various colleges
from our forum)
SME/SOHO/Industries are planned to be invited.
and the general public.
2.8 what will be the total turnout?
Roughly about 300 to 35O people .
2.9 how will they be benefitted
Any one who uses computers at home or office can be a direct
beneficiary. Students can learn about the Floss.
