[Ilugc] Smart Link Modem installation in Mandrake 8.2

I have Intel 810 MBoard, Celeron 433. I have Windows98SE and Mandrake
8.2 (2.4.18-6mdk). I had bought a new modem(DAX PCI Smart Link Modem).
It has the necessary drivers in the CD to install in Linux. I extracted
all the given files in the tar file (slmdm-2.7.15.tar).
Virtually every PCI modem card is a WinModem. If you try to use a
WinModem in Linux, you're on your own. The solutions are:
1) Return the PCI modem, and get a good external modem that connects to
a serial port.
2) Attempt to build the WinModem driver from source and solve all the
build & configuration issues on your own.

P.S. WinModems are *lousy* idea, created by the Intel/Microsoft duopoly
to try to shave a few cents of hardware costs, while ensuring a lock-in
to the Wintel platform.
