I think this leads to MS based syllabus in the schools from the lower level.

In TN Govt. Point of view, it solves most of the "current / practical "
problems in Computer Science Education in Schools.
Any way, we have to accept and bring the best to the Students
We don't have to accept all that mechanically, like computers accept
instructions.
What "current/practical" problems are there? Do you mean to say that
schools do not have even *one* computer dedicated for teaching cs?
We, through our governments, are giving away free bicycles to school
children (cost of 10 bicycles = 1 computer), and we could certainly
afford atleast a few computers for each school, and share it just the
way a physics lab is shared. It would be good if we could afford more
computers so that each student can have one of his own, but that is
not a serious handicap (see footnote). Teacher Training institutes are
governed by many regulations, and imparting training about "new"
subjects could be dealt with routinely, as it is done for other
subjects. Text books are printed and distributed with public funds.
The Free Software environment has a wide range of tools, documents,
and resources, and we just have to help ourselves. Inviting
proprietary software vendors into this picture is like inviting a mad
bull into a china shop :)
