Dear All FOSSouls,
Greetings from IIT Bombay! It always feels great to connect
to FOSS enthusiasts like you. We're working on a Project, viz, Spoken
Tutorial, wherein we encourage people to learn and use FOSS. Our vision is
to make every Indian switch to Open Source Software. Our project is a part
of the National Mission on Education through ICT, funded by MHRD, Govt. Of
India. We're working towards our vision in the following way-
* Training college students and faculty on software that they can use in
their future professional life, for example, Scilab, Python, PHP & MySQL,
LaTeX and Linux. This training is also offered to corporate.
* Training Libre Office and Linux Ubuntu to staff members of schools,
colleges, Govt. offices and corporate
* Offering FDP on LaTeX to all faculty members, aiming at betterment of
academics in India
We have also worked on making Scilab a part of KIET Ghaziabad's
regular curriculum in Elect. Engg and CSE if you want I can send you the
syllabus topics also.We have also done many workshops in south including
IITM
To avail this training programmes all a learner need is a computer and a
basic mobile ear-phone. Learners need not leave their campus to avail the
training. We basically reach out to learners through networking. This
network is being spread out across the country by students and faculty who
have experienced the magic of learning FOSS using our magical AV
Instructional Methodology, viz, 'Spoken Tutorials'. These AV tools are sent
by us in a CD (can also be downloaded from http://spoken-tutorial.org). We
also network by participating in various conferences/ symposiums/ any
national level meet. Journals/ Publications are also good means of reaching
out to public, for us.We have already done more than 2000 workshops of the
above mentioned FOSS in all over India.
As both of us share a common dream, i.e, to Fossize India, let's work
together. We'll be happy to receive contacts from you either to offer
Software Training Workshops or to participate in conferences or to publish
articles.
