Does anyone have experience using the Tamil-India locale? I have been using
it for a few years now, but have some problems:
Non-ASCII punctuation, like ellipsis, "em" dash, etc. get replaced by Tamil
characters.
The "Monospace" font in Gnome-Terminal and XFCE Terminal, has got replaced
by some font which is not constant-width.
I am using Debian 4.0 . In my .bashrc, I have:
export LANG='ta_IN.UTF-8'
export LANGUAGE="ta:en"
I have not yet figured out whether the mistake is in the locale file
(/usr/share/i18n/locales/ta_IN), or in the fonts (ttf-tamil-fonts). Any help
would be great!
