Amazon Web Services (AWS) gives a free micro instance for one year.
They have several images of various Linux distros. I am sure Ubuntu
14.04 AMI (Amazon Machine Image). Caveat to create an account you
will have to pop out a credit card.
Digital Ocean also provides a minimum VPS with 512MB RAM and single
vCPU @ $5/mo.
