I don't know what your priorities are but I do have reaons to choose
Ubuntu over debian.
It has latest of the packages included. Though much of the work is
based on the debian
base, things are changing now. Xorg for instance was first included in
ubuntu and is now
being ported to debian. Ubuntu is very much focused on security.
Though many people say
that it is focused on desktop and novice users there is no reason why
an experienced users
shouldn't use it, especially when you can get the work done with
lesser effort. All the packages needed for me is in the Ubuntu repos,
If at all I find a package not in the Ubuntu there is always the
debian packages as a fall back.
