Some confusion here. VSNL / Tata Indicom is now what Dishnet DSL has been
rebranded to, and they've been offering 512K ADSL for quite some time at
vastly inflated rates - these are starting to come down though.
That uses PPPoA (PPP over ATM) rather than PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet).Aargh, I'd prefer a nice, clean Ethernet interface with PPPoE, which would
PPPoE is much easier to support on linux but for PPPoA you'd need a usb
modem or a router type device.
VSNL also was, and is, offering their DIAS service, which I think uses
CorDECT from Prof Jhunjunuwala / TENET at IITM, which basically sounds
like a cut down version of ISDN the last time I checked.
