Intel motherboards are good. A processor does not exist in isolation.
You won't get good performance without a good motherboard. In fact
processor frequency is one factor; many things don't require much CPU
intervention.
I have no clue about i7 or any of the others. I find that even Atom is
sufficient for my needs though for desktop use it is not great because
the graphics chip on board the mini ITX does not support big
displays(more than 1024x768).
