Pardon my ignorance guys. I will end up shooting on my wrong foot if I end up
saying something.
I have one question. Have any of you tried running Windoze under qemu
emulation?
Yes, it does but is really very slow, there is a list of issue with
scheduling in qemu and enumerating device has a huge overhead. qemu is
really very useful for tiny OS :)-. ms dos 6.2 would rock.
There is a binary with qemu maintained by the qemu _maintainer_ which
helps in improving the performance, but has other issues and he never
wanted that to be GPL'd.
Xen, can use qemu and there is a lot of development going around with
xen. Lot of big vendors are banking on xen, but i would still say its
not completely enterprise ready. It will take some time and i hope
they will be part of kernel.org someday.
What about VMware?
VMware rulez :)-, vmware also has a initiative to go opensource, there
has a VMI proposed and there was lot of discussion at linux symposium.
vmware guys are also hoping to part of mainline kernel as well. Rusty
Russel is pushing patches and testing them.
vmware has lot of free as in bear and commercial products which are
very mature for enterprise customers.
