Hi all,
Today (17/7/2011) few members from PuduvaiLUG went to attend the Opening and
First Meeting of Villupuram Linux Users Group.
Mr. Praveen Singh (Co-ordinator) of Villupuram Linux Users group was busy in
making arrangements for the meet to start.
The meet started by distribution of Juice, and it was Praveen singh, who
started his speech by explaining the need for a Linux User Group.
And then i took the chance to speak about the difference between the GPL of
Open Source and EULA of Proprietary Software's.
Then explained the need for a change to Open source from Proprietary
softwares, played an audio clip which Mr.Shrinivasan has shared me long
back.
Then Praveen Singh displayed some videos showing graphical effects of Ubuntu
Desktop, and played a game called OpenArena (

Then we explained the concept how Open Source works with the Example of
Mozilla projects.
Displayed the Video from Mozilla Website explaining how they are successful
because of Open Source ( http://www.mozilla.org/contribute/ ;).
Then also showed the source code of Kernel, downloaded from Kernel.org
Praveen Singh also explained about the need for mailing list.
We strongly recommended that we are on the way to make india better by going
the Open Source way, against corruption (software piracy).
At the end we all gave a feedback in a written form of what can be done in
forth coming meets.
