[Ilugc] app cannot find sun java

am trying to run an app that requires sun java. I installed sun java
using the self extracting rpm.bin file. The app barfs saying:
'No JDK found. Please validate either PYCHARM_JDK, JDK_HOME or JAVA_HOME
environment variable points to valid JDK installation.'
any tips will be appreciated.
As per the message the env variable is not set or is not pointing to the
right path. Can you
validate it and get back?
Note: even if you install packages the variable sometimes does not get set.
