Recently I had to do a project collaboration with bitbucket and I
setup a git repository with bitbucket.org for free.
You can easily create a project with homepage written in markdown
format. Readme.md.
Then you can checkin source code using git and you can push it
to a repository that instantly reflects on the website.
You can also set the repo for public or private access.
Using this you can easily host an open source project.
I use sourceforge for my LiveUSB projects which are not getting me
much interest these days. But I used to have some traction.
But those are not source code projects.
And most of the work I do involves appliances or OS based stuff.
For small projects involving source code that people can check out
and build I am sure bitbucket.org is the way to go.
