I am quite new here and this is my first opportunity to answer a question.
Vinodh and everyone here should excuse me , cause I may not have answers to
all your questions.
For booting, if you're using GRUB then changing the delay is easy.
You open /boot/grub/menu.lst in a text editor.(You need administrator
rights)
Find the following line:
timeout X
where X is some integer denoting the delay in seconds.
Change that, save the file and you're done.
