try configuring ip address in manually with
ip address
netmask
gateway
dns1
dns2
then try ping your dns and google..whatever u wish

I hope, you are using the modem's Ethernet Port and Not the USB Port.
You have to configure 'ethX' interface IP, Subnet Mask (usually
255.255.255.0), Gateway IP and DNS IP.
1. Check your configuration by running 'ifconfig' command.
2. In ifconfig output check Rx Packet count is increasing.
3. Ping the Gateway IP
4. Ping the DNS IP
5. Ping to Google
Modem and Connection is already working. So I think, Something wrong
with NIC configuration. Failure at each of above step will give you
some idea about the problem.
