The problem is identified. There was no problem with the NIC. tcpdump on
the linux system's NIC reveled that one of the Win2k3 server which was
passing through the linux system was bombing packets
to outside on "micorsoft.ds" port and were getting dropped by the iptables
rules. The rush of packets were so huge that the kernel could not handle.
That Win2k3 system was checked and rebooted, after which things turn to
normal. I am on the process of identifying the application which was bombing
packets.
