What version of dbus are you using? Press
Control+Alt+F1, login to console, and check output of
(if using debian):
dpkg - l dbus
Try,
sudo /etc/init.d/dbus-1 stop; sleep 15; sudo
/etc/init.d/dbus-1 start
and try logging in again.
