[Ilugc] snmp problem

I installed net-snmp package in RH9.if i run

"snmpd" demon it is running but not responding to
snmpget
request .what could be the problem .

  My grain of salt:
  Is it rpm install? Configuration file will ge available in
  /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

   What is the community name? What parameters you edited?
   You can create configuration by running snmpconf.
   RPM install may not host Host resources mib. It is better
   to comile source tar.
