I guess you mean Ubuntu 10.10. Most of the wireless modems from ZTE,
Huawei are supported by Linux (you may need to do some configuration
changes in some older distro - google can help you here). Can you
provide specific problem. Network manager should detect the device
(most of the reliance, tata USB data cards are supported inherently in
recent distro).
When I did not have direct internet connection in my PC I created one
shell script to assist in updating or installing software in Ubuntu
(understanding apt is the key). The application can be found at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ubuoffupdater/?source=directory. Try
that and let me know - I will be glad to provide help.
