Hi Dean,
well hmmm, Do you know for a fact that the whole multiLine listBox items
actually either change color as you use down arrow to traverse it, or in
some other way gain focus though? as you do this?

i.e. I'm thinking it would be worth establishing whether the program
actually supports this functionality with the down arrow, forgetting for a
moment about jaws speaking the right stuff as you do this.
e.g. do you know for a fact that it isn't just a mouseOnly control, which
doesn't even support use of pc Cursor arrows at all, to change anything?
I admit I don't properly understand this whole deal of Reclassing in jaws,
and exactly what it facilitates in the scheme of things, but I myself as yet
cannot see how, for example, it could possibly make a program do what it
might not actualy be programmed to do by default. i.e. to select differing
options in a listBox using the arrow keys?
I hope this isn't the case for your sake, but, I've often wondered you see,
why that functionality is bothered to be supported at all in programs, since
the sightling doesn't of course need nor use such functionality at all. they
can simply glance at the whole list of options, click the scroll bar on the
side to scroll it down, then click the one they want, with no need of any
concept of builtin keyboard support for pc cursor arrows to do anything? no
need of highlights or focus changing from item to item with arrow presses
etc.

in these cases it'd just be a "look and click," thing?

now, let's hope that is not the case in your sitch. assuming it isn't, and
that arrows do work to actually highlight in some way, each multi line item,
getting jaws to actualy speak the right stuff, *might* simply be a case of
examining the highlight color, of the selected item, next to one which is
not selected/highlighted, and marking the highlight as a custom highlight?
Could it be that simple? I'd strongly advise using invisible cursor though,
not jaws cursor,
to check text colors with JawsKey+TopRow number 5 whilst over text, to do th
is. Because, if you use the jaws cursor, this might introduce a further
complication into the mix, since sometimes when the mouse hovers over items,
their color changes to reflect this, and thus using that to mark a custom
highlight with JawsKey+control+h, will not yield any useful results, for
when the arrows are moving the highlight color, the mouse usually would
remain in a static location.
HTH.

geoff c.
