This has changed in recent versions of Jaws. the file you need to open
is "Script manager.jss" without the quotes.

Follow this procedure after opening the script manager as discussed in
the manual.

1. press alt + f to open the file manager and then press the letter e
to open files from the shared settings folder.
2. type script manager.jss in the file name field. Yes there does
need to be a space between script and manager.
3. press enter to open the file.

You will discover a few discrepancies like this from time to time, but
the information is still valid and the exercises are helpful.

When this manual was written, there was not the concept of application
aliases as there is now.

in this case the application alias for jscript is script manager.

I hope this explains the problem for you.

If you would like to see the other application aliases, =20
use the above procedure to look at the ConfigNames.ini file to see how
the other aliases have been defined.

Hello All,
I am working my way through scripting exercises in the manual on
scripting written by Kenneth Gould, and I have come upon a snag.
The manual states:
"We will create a script for the Script Manager that reads the current
line number. :...
Start the Script Manager by selecting it from the JAWS Utilities menu.
Press INSERT+Q to verify the Script Manager settings are loaded into
the stack above the=20
default script file and that the program name for the script editor is
JSCRIPT.EXE. This means, of course, that the script file currently
controlling JAWS is=20
JSCRIPT.JSS. To load this file so you can edit it, drop down the file
menu with ALT+F and arrow down to Open and press ENTER. Type in the
file=20
name, JSCRIPT.JSS, and press ENTER."

Here's the snag: when I try to open jscript.jss, either in user or
shared files, I am told that no such file exists. However, I find it odd
that when I do the insert plus Q, it does indeed say "Script Manager
Settings jscript.exe", as indicated in the manual.
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if the file really does
not exist in my version of Jaws, namely 7.1.
I am tempted to press insert plus 0 to try and get the application .jss
file to come up, but I don't want to mess anything up, so I thought I
would ask here first.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.
