I've definitley seen this break like this before. only the other day I saw it break under jaws 8, but work properly under jaws6.2! though of course with the jaws 8 shipping JawsVid.dll installed in system32, version 10.14.2289.0. under windows 98 with the original jaws 6.2 shipping jawsVid.dll for that version installed, which was 10.8.46.0, it certainly doesn't seem to work though wiht virtual pc cursor under jaws 6.2. so maybe bumping in a later jawsVid.dll might solve the problem for you? of course it may break other things, that do appear to jaws cursor under that older jawsVid.dll, but, it may fix this virtual pc color detect issue for you too. you can manually swap the jawsVid.dll's in and out at will it appears. but you can't just dump them in system32, at least not from my minimally tried experiments. you've got to use the actual Video intercept manager, to firstly uninstall/remove the current version of the video intercept, jawsVid.dll, from the chain, then go to c:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\JawsVersion, and rename the current jawsvid.dll to something else, using narator of course, then dump the newer one from an jaws 8.0 install, into that folder. then reboot system, and using narator, you should be able to see it'll be offering you to install the new video intercept etc. and whatever is called jawsVid.dll in that jaws volder under program files, will be what it'll then stick into the chain and shove into c:\windows\system32. you can check the version number of it either in the video intercept manager readOnly Edit itself, I think, or the displaying chaining manager, I forget which, or you can go to c:\windows\system32 and find it in there, and hit alt+enter on it, then controlTab once to see it's version number. if it's a 10.14.xxx.0 then, it's the jaws 8.0 jawsVid you've now got installed. you could also just do it by installing a demo of jaws8.0 on the system, which would give the advantage of just trying jaws 8 as well, to see whether the fix was in there, or just in the dll itself. hope that makes sense. be careful though. you'll lose speech of course when the jaws vid isn't operational, and you will need to use naraotr with windows+U to start utility manager, which normally runs it. I am using Windows XP Pro, JAWS 6.2 and IE version 6. I can not seem to find any way to make JAWS announce the color of text at the virtual cursor. I wrote a script that uses the "SayColor()" function, but when invoked, it only says "black on black". Is there something that I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated.
