That sound is not in a driver and if you do hack
into one you just might have to reinstall
everything. they sound like some of the people a
while back that was telling people to delete
system32.dll because it was a virus. Those that
did had a reinstall coming. You might want to
rethink the friend thing if they want you to break your computer so much.
Its a wav file and find it and you can make it
anything you want, but it has to keep the name.
You can only use one theme so making different
profiles is senseless. You only have your adman
account and how ever many guest accounts you want
and 2 are 2 to many hands on a personal computer.
So double check things with google. So you know
and its just not a joke on you.

What happened in Windows XP and Vista that made the developers change their

that you can change the startup sound in Windows Vista and earlier, but you
can't change it in Windows 7 without possibly ruining your computer. Someone
told me you could change the startup sound by hacking into some driver
called "imageres.dll", however, I'm not sure how to safely change that
without ruining my machine.

Hi

In Windows XP and earlier, (I don't know about Windows Vista), there was a
Windows startup sound. But in Windows 7, you can only choose whether the
default Windows Startup sound is played or not. But there is a user logon
sound that you can choose. But you have to actually go through the user
logon screen and logon to hear it. But if you only have one user account on
the computer with no password, or you have set the option to automatically
logon a specific user, it won't be played. You could probably change the
Windows startup sound by changing something in the registry. But I doubt
you could set a different sound by theme.

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I'm making several different sound schemes for Windows 7, and I want each of
them to have a different startup sound when Windows starts. However, the
only thing my computer will let me do is check or uncheck the box marked
"Play Windows Startup Sound". Since I don't want all the themes to have the
same Startup sound, I wonder if there's a safe and effective way to go about
changing the sound for each theme I'm creating? What I mean is, is there a
way to change the startup sound without completely ruining my machine? It
seems funny how the sound can be changed within the Control Panel in earlier
versions of Windows, but not Windows 7. Is there a reason why that happened?
