Well, there go any ideas I had of attempting to get into JAWS scripting.

Subject: [jawsscripts] Windows Live Mail and Other JAWS Scripts Updates

The following story points out a critical weakness in the JAWS
Scripts Architecture! There should be a better process for
updating user scripts when a JAWS update is released! I know
some of you have made this easier for your particular scripts.
This is something I would expect Freedom Scientific to resolve
in general. However, I see little interest in scripting
support from Freedom Scientific.
I finally got Windows Live Mail to work acceptably with JAWS
11! I uninstalled the previous JAWS 11, including user
settings and scripts, but left the shared components. Then I
downloaded and installed the new 1447 version. My previously
unresolved issues went away! Well, most of them. There are
still annoying issues, which I expect happen for all of you;
lack of auto completion feedback when typing into the To field,
no first letter navigation of the folder list, and not all of
the hotkeys to read or edit the headers work correctly. With
the new update more of these keys now work, like the Date and
To fields, with Alt + 2 and Alt + 3, respectively. The Subject
field, Alt + 6, has always worked. Others, most notably, the
From field, Alt +1, still does not work.

I have a lot of scripts that I have written and also use
several scripts created by other JAWS users. Some are merged
using container files with the default scripts and other
applications such as IE and Firefox. Previously, I had
reinstalled all of these scripts over the old installation, I
made sure all of the jsb binary files were updated. Evidently,
that was not enough! I suppose some of the associated files
like jsh header files never got updated until I completely
removed my user settings folder!

My conclusion is that until Freedom Scientific or a third party
figure out how to properly update the scripts and their support
files, using user created scripts for JAWS is too cumbersome
for the average user! Heck, it had me stumped for almost a
year! This should really be addressed!

Thanks all for previously attempting to figure this out!
