Desyree, My initial five minutes looking at courier tells me that you can indeed edit with the virtual cursor off, as Willi suggested. However you can only read inbound male with the cursor active, as you've noted. I know you were looking at a Com solution to this problem, but there may be another way of doing it. The format menu on the menu bar isn't present in a read-only message, but it is on one you are writing. You might be able to use this to test how you want the cursor to be active or not. If you write a message with the virtual cursor off then turn the cursor back on to read it, the markup speaks fine. Of course it's impossible to select the appropriate text to mark whilst the cursor is active, but having virtual on is a useful review tool. Also, several options from within a read-only message require selection of text. On the whole, the UI seems very friendly and accessible, hotkeys are plentiful and the client itself seems quite responsive. If you can get over this hurdle I see no reason why Courier can't become yet another mail client, easily accessible with JAWS. Questions: Does anybody have code to detect for the presence of a menu? My initial thinking of WinGetText on the appropriate menubar (which isn't a standard class) might well work, but seems clunky. Is this a better approach than using Com? This email client is for the most part accessible right out of the box except for writing html emails. If you compose an email in html you cannot write the body of the message. I need help as to how to code this so that I can write html emails in courier if I choose. Also currently it does not read html emails quite right either. it tends to think that you are editing the message instead of just reading it but I am pretty sure I can fix this with a setting in courier itself. currently all i have for a script is the start and the end. So if you could kindly help provide the necessary code and where it goes i will copy and paste it in the right place. thanks Desyree PS I had a system crash so I could have missed something if this was already answered. __________ Visit and contribute to The JAWS Script Repository http://jawsscripts.com View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts __________ Visit and contribute to The JAWS Script Repository http://jawsscripts.com View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts
