Today is International Translation Day - and we want to thank you, our
wonderful translator community. StoryWeaver now offers more than 26,000
storybooks in over 270 languages, and through your efforts, we are able to
give children access to storybooks in their own language, help protect
linguistic heritage, encourage diversity & understanding, and build a
culture of reading. Thank you for all that you do.
We are continuously looking for ways to support your work, and are
delighted to announce the launch of *StoryWeaver Mobile Translate! *
You can now use StoryWeaver to translate storybooks straight from your
phone. With more than 270 supported languages, thousands of curated books,
and a simple, intuitive interface, all you have to do is follow 5 steps:
1. Pick your language
2. Pick a book
3. Translate
4. Check your work
5. Publish!

shared their language expertise to shape these tools, and are already
putting them into use, translating storybooks into Maithili and Konkani for
children to read and enjoy.
We have developed an assisted translation system to improve the accuracy of
crowdsourced translations for Indic language children's books, with support
from Microsoft Research India

and in partnership with Mirafra Technologies. The languages selected for
this project are Assamese and Odia.
The system’s Dictionary Tool suggests different levels of translation for a
word or phrase, taking into account the context. This will help translators
choose the perfect words to elevate their storytelling.
We recently launched a unique offering that allows partners to integrate
the StoryWeaver site experience onto their site as an extension.
Darakht-e Danesh Library

(DDL) - a digital repository of open educational resources set up by
Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan - is the first partner to embed
StoryWeaver into its platform. StoryWeaver appears as an extended part of
the DDL site

through a curated gateway which serves a localised version of StoryWeaver
in Farsi, tailored to the DDL users’ content preferences. This innovation
is especially meaningful during COVID-19, as it creates a pathway to
help Afghan children read and learn safely from home.
