If you want to do projects in Mozilla platform, just go through the
following links. There is no qualifications needed to contribute projects or
any plug-in. Try to join the Mozilla mailing list and IRC channel to
interact with the developers.

In mozilla platform, you have to study some other tools and languages also
for development like xul, etc...
But the best way to get involved in the community is to start reading
planet.mozilla.org.
Try to get more details from the mozilla developers also.
