Sorry to hear about the GHO. Wonder if it had a tough time during the extreme
cold.

Highlight at the cemetery was a lingering Red-breasted Nuthatch. The
young(?), male (?) Great Horned Owl I’d been seeing was leaning over dead in
a tree on the south side. Couldn’t tell the cause of its demise.
Highlight of lake 6 was 30 Common Mergansers(7 male, the rest female).
Not much else through the lakes except an increase in Ring-billed Gulls.
Aztlan Park was pretty slow. A single Coot was the highlight for quite a
while. I eventually found a group of 6-8 Juncos. A second group of 3 was
flycatching the gnat-sized flying insects along with the bird of the day, an
Orange-crowned Warbler. I also found a single uncooperative Song Sparrow.
