Hi everyone,
As a follow-up to Sheri’s post, Sheri has worked hard to make what seemed an
impossibility become a reality in obtaining access at this location and support
from the city.
We will have two large trailers along with the city roll-off dumpster to haul
off debris. We will have manpower to move larger items. There is plenty of
loose debris also (not heavy).
While this will be our first pass here, I’m certain we can make a visible
improvement.
Big thank you to Sheri for her persistence.
Please come out if you can!! Any amount of time you can spare will help.

Hello Fellow Birders;
Here’s a reminder of the SPTXMN cleanup this Saturday.
I’m excited to share that we finally got the details for this clean up
project put together with the folks at Keep Lubbock Beautiful. It has been
months in the making.
Date: 11-20-21
Time: 10 am -1pm
Where: avenue C and 46th St.
Parking: 4808 Ave C
Details: this is a playa that has become a dumping ground for large items
such as furniture, mattresses, and tires as well as the usual wind blown and
storm drainage items.
Why it matters: this is an area that birds and wildlife use. Many of us
“bird” this area and would like to see it cleaned up. This also allows us to
provide a great service to the community.
We desperately need your participation and all others you can invite to make
this event a success. This is the greatest challenge we’ve tackled to date.
As usual, come and go as you can if you can’t do the entire 3 hours.
Those working near the water might want to bring mud boots.
The city will
provide trash bags, safety vests, grabbers and a roll off dumpster. We also
have a couple trailers we will use to haul off the tires.
