What a gorgeous bird.
Please give the American Goldfinches my address. I have had a thistle sock out
since the first of the year. I am sure that they just don’t know its there.
The House Finches will just have to learn how to share. The White-winged Dove
congregate below the thistle feeder and eat what the finches drop.
I have had a mixture of up to 50 White-winged Doves, Eurasians, and 2 regular
Mourning Doves (sometimes 3). Since they are all ground feeders, I have just
been putting a feeder full of seed in my fertilizer spreaders and broadcasting
it. I am not sure that will work once the grass starts to really grow. They
hang around all day trying to find the last bit. I was tired of watching the
White Wings dominate the feeder.
