A hermit thrush appeared in the yard this morning, then while I was on the
phone a wren appeared, but flitted off before I could grab and focus the
binoculars with one hand. After the call I went into the alley to find it—a
house wren, and then saw what at first I assumed to be a starling but seemed
odd. It turned out to be a female bronzed cowbird. She gave the distinct
impression of being up to no good.
Let me also add some casual sightings from west Lubbock yesterday, that more or
less crossed my path as I was attending to other things:
