Greetings All:
As mentioned earlier in the year, I will be using a combination of e-bird data,
my data, and submitted data from other folk in the LEAS region to get a handle
on some of our more confusing species. I will attempt to put the data in the
context of counties of likely occurrence with observer effort. Without further
ado the January report. Please keep your eyes and ears alert to these species
in our region and, even if you don't e-bird, report your records to me at
anthony.hewetson@xxxxxxxxxx
Western Scrub Jay - no reports of any Western Scrub Jays in the region despite
known observer effort in Floyd, Lubbock, Crosby, and Dickens Counties.
Carolina Chickadee - no reports of any Carolina Chickadees in the region
despite known observer effort in Hale, Floyd, Lubbock, Crosby, and Dickens
Counties.
Black-crested Titmouse - 1 reported from Crosby County and 4 reported from
Dickens County. No reports from Floyd, Lubbock, or Garza Counties despite some
observer effort.
Bushtit - no reports of any Bushtits in the region despite known observer
effort in Floyd, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, and Garza Counties.
Verdin - 1 reported from Lubbock County. No reports from Bailey, Floyd,
Cochran, Hockley, Crosby, Dickens, or Garza Counties despite known observer
effort.
Rock Wren - 1 reported from Lubbock County. No reports from Bailey, Floyd,
Cochran, Hockley, Crosby, Dickens, or Garza Counties despite known observer
effort.
Canyon Wren- 1 reported from Lubbock County, 2 reported from Crosby County, and
1 reported from Dickens County. None reported for Floyd or Garza County
despite known observer effort.
House Wren - 1 reported from Dickens County. No reports from Bailey, Hale,
Floyd, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, or Garza Counties despite known
observer effort.
Carolina Wren - 1 reported from Dickens County. No reports from Floyd,
Lubbock, or Crosby Counties despite known observer effort.
Bewick's Wren - 1 reported from Hockley County, 4 reported from Crosby County,
and 5 reported from Dickens County. No reports from Bailey, Floyd, Cochran,
Lubbock, or Garza Counties despite known observer effort.
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - no reports of any Blue-gray Gnatcatchers in the region
despite known observer effort in Bailey, Floyd, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock,
Crosby, Dickens, and Garza Counties.
Eastern Bluebird: 4 reported from Crosby County and 1 reported from Dickens
County. No reports from Bailey, Hale, Floyd, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, or
Garza Counties despite known observer effort.
Brown Thrasher - no reports of any Brown Thrashers in the region despite known
observer effort in Floyd, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, and Garza Counties.
Curve-billed Thrasher - 1 reported from Bailey County, 1 reported from Hockley
County, 4 reported from Lubbock County, 1 reported from Crosby County, and 1
reported from Dickens County. No reports from Floyd, Cochran, or Garza
Counties despite known observer effort.
American Pipit - 5 reported from Floyd County and 1 reported from Lubbock
County. No reports from Bailey, Cochran, Hockley, Crosby, Dickens, or Garza
Counties despite known observer effort.
