Greetings All:
Sheri Anderson and I found and photographed (already submitted to
eBird) a Black-and-white Warbler at Mae Simmons Park late this
morning. We observed the bird for several minutes as it captured and
ate several prey items. While this does not rule out a breeding bird,
it might (assuming that a breeding adult bird might be at least
somewhat focussed on provisioning young) be more suggestive of an
early migrant. On the other hand, it is hard to imagine a better
sight in Lubbock County for an out-of range breeder - the species is
suspected of breeding in adjacent Crosby County on at least two
occasions.
June was, as usual, pretty slow bird-wise but July is here so laissez
le bon temps rouler:)
Regards; Anthony Hewetson
