I drove through the cemetery after work this afternoon. A number of
Whitecrowned sparrows were present. But the highlight was a blackbird
with a light eye. Unfortunately I didn’t get a good enough look to determine
whether it was a late Brewer’s Blackbird or a late/stray Rusty Blackbird. It
was a male with some glossiness, but it was in shadows initially and then flew
into an elm and hid while I waited impatiently until I saw it fly far, far
away.
Not much else of interest. A Swainson’s Hawk has settled in at the field at
19th and Aspen. A Great Egret was at Mackenzie.
