Greetings all,
There is a new team called “Community Outreach” through the City of Lubbock
that has replaced the Lubbock Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT).
I contacted them about the homeless guy on the Clapp Park Nature Trail, and
just let them know I was a little concerned about him, and that I thought he
might need some sort of help. I also said he seemed to be camping out under
that tree, and that I had seen him bathing in the area where the broken bridge
is. I didn’t get super specific about anything, but just told them I thought he
might need alternate shelter, and possibly some kind of intervention for either
mental health or substance abuse issues. They said they would send someone out
to talk to him. Thought everyone who birds that trail might appreciate knowing
that. I hope they can help him.
