Some much-needed sightings after being cooped up in the house all week with
kids:
5 Horned Larks (FM40 and FM378 intersection)
2 American Avocets (FM40 and FM2576 intersection)
1 Loggerhead Shrike (FM40 and CR179 intersection)
15 Green-winged Teals (FM40 and CR187 intersection)
10 White-crowned sparrows (CR245, south of White River Lake)
13 Cedar Waxwings (CR245, south of White River Lake)
1 Ash-throated Flycatcher (CR245, south of White River Lake)
And, as I was heading back home, 1 Great-horned Owl perched on a telephone wire
on FM651, Garza County
Did you know:
1. If you live in the middle of nowhere, it is acceptable behavior to leave
your Christmas lights up and turned on long past the holiday season? I
appreciated the colorful bling while aimlessly navigating the backroads back to
Lbk.
2. There is a direct correlation between cellphone reception and the
availability of public restrooms (if you are a woman. I suppose the opposite is
true if you are a man.)
