As I was pulling out of our garage today, there sat a flicker in the side
yard - I couldn't tell if it was red or yellow shafted in that moment, but
it was a beautiful bird!
Years ago I raised five Yellow-Shafted Flickers from nestling stage and it
was one of the highlights of my career with wildlife rehabilitation.
Believe it or not, they were released in June, and all of them were still
reappearing from time to time in early October.
