Hello everyone!
We hope you are all doing very well and that you're continuing to stay safe.
It's been great hearing about everyone's First of Spring (FOS) sightings. What
a treat it is to wake up to birdsong.
This week marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. We wish we could celebrate
the anniversary in person. But that won't stop us from doing our best, in
ways big and small, to save critical habitat for our beloved birds. For
inspiration, please check out the story in this month's edition of Scissortail
about the consortium of volunteers who, under Rob Lee's leadership,
transplanted cottonwood trees from Buffalo Lake NWR to Mackenzie and McCullough
Parks. It's a wonderful example of how a community can come together to help
save our precious planet.
And for Earth Day proper, please check out these three links:
The Past: Listen to the inspiring speech from Governor Gaylord Nelson of
Wisconsin, founder of Earth Day. April 21, 1970.
The Present: Earth Day Live - a worldwide digital event. All day, April 22
The Future: Citizen's Climate Lobby celebration with keynote speaker, Dr.
Katherine Hayhoe. April 25, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm CST
Take care, everyone!
Take care of the earth!Wishing you all good birding!
