Mostly Grackles, Robins, Juncos, Y-R Warblers, and Waxwings. Highlights
were a Brown Creeper, a Red-breasted Nuthatch, a Golden-crowned Kinglet,
and 5 Ruby-crowned.
Ok, so I've had this wren around since at least the 22nd. Buy it's calls
and song I was pretty sure it was a Winter, but not totally sure. So on the
28th about 5:00 I stepped out on the porch with song of the Winter in hand.
I pressed play and then the magic started! 3 seconds in the wren flew up
on a large tree stump only 5 feet away. We looked at each other for a few
seconds, then it flew. Then a Mockingbird, two Oranged-Crowned Warblers, a
Red-breasted, multiple Kinglets came in super close. I'm probably
forgetting some. It was awesome! Then a Common Nighthawk over the block,
then Fletcher started barking while looking up. That's usually for Turkey
Vultures. I looked up to watch a Broad-winged Hawk (light-phased juvenile )
slowly and lowly fly over the yard! This was all about 30 minutes before
before the front hit. So the Wren is still here stays in the evergreens
mostly by the pond. At least 1 Kinglet, Y-r-w here all month. Also R- b n
off and on. And an Inca or 2 out front on the street. When I played the
Pacific's song or call it would call aggressively, as if scolding.
