Greetings All:
It is possible that we will have hit a point with COVID-19 by the time
the counts roll around that I will feel comfortable with
potlucks/countdowns but, for the time being, I am planning on dealing
with the countdown aspect of the counts as I did last year (team
leaders will turn the materials over to me and I will do a virtual
countdown - on-line - as soon as is possible thereafter). This might
change - should the COVID-19 situation improve substantially.
Individuals will have to decide, as teams, how they wish to deal with
carpooling, masking, etc ... I, personally, encourage folk who are in
enclosed spaces with people outside of their COVID pods to continue
wearing masks. Observers do not have to be terribly experienced (all
of the team leaders are solid birders) and this is a great opportunity
for birders at different skill levels to learn from one another.
The Lubbock County CBC will be held on Saturday, 18 December 2021.
Team leaders will meet with their members at 7:30 AM at sites chosen
by the team leaders, counting will go on until 5:00 PM, and team
leaders will deliver the materials to me as soon as is possible
thereafter. I generally divide the circle into eight areas, need
eight team leaders, and could use as many counters as sign up.

Team 2 - City Farms and North Central - Anthony Hewetson
Team 3 - Ransom Lake North - VACANT
Team 4 - V8 Ranch and Buffalo Springs Lake - VACANT

Team 6 - Southern Edge - VACANT
Team 7 - Lubbock East - Sheri Anderson, Lena Zappia
Team 8 - Lubbock West - VACANT
I have two participants (Kassie Moore, William Wenthe) who will be
assigned to an area as I get team leaders.
The Muleshoe NWR CBC will (pending approval from refuge personnel) be
held on Sunday, 19 December 2021. We will meet where we are told to
meet at 7:30 AM, will bird until lunch time, and leaders will turn the
count materials over to me before we head back to Lubbock. I usually
divide this refuge-restricted count into four areas, need four team
leaders, and could use as many counters as sign up. Current areas and
team members thus far are:
Team 1 - East of 214 - Anthony Hewetson, Sheri Anderson
Team 2 - Goose Lake and Rim - Phillip Kite
Team 3 - White Lake and South - VACANT
Team 4 - Headquarters, Campground, and Northern Heights - VACANT
The White River Lake CBC will be held on Sunday, 2 January 2022. At
the request of several participants who have New Year's Eve plans I
have moved this count from a Saturday to a Sunday. We will meet at
the marina at 7:30 AM, will bird until 4:30 PM (or so), and I will
gather the materials from the team leaders before we leave for
Lubbock. I generally divide this circle into five areas, need five
team leaders, and could use as many counters as sign up. Last year,
several of us got together (masked and distanced) and camped at the
lake the night before - that may well occur this year. Current areas
and team members thus far are:

Team 2 - Great North Woodlands - Rich Kostecke, Brandon Best
Team 3 - West and Southwest - Lena Zappia
