Good Morning everyone....
I don't manage the Wildlife Center's website any longer because since I
retired I'm seldom there.
That notwithstanding, one of the most important pages is on their new site,
under the heading "More..." and it's Baby Birds 101.
It's that time of year, and we get hundreds of bird-related calls all
spring and summer and sometimes beyond.
Before you call the Center or intervene should you find a baby bird please
read that page.
Most importantly, please rescue if a bird is in need, but don't kidnap
healthy fledges, as they normally spend a few days on the ground learning
essential survival skills from the parents.
It's OK to pick a bird up and move it out of harm's way into a shady spot.
Glenda, thanks for mentioning SPWRC always needs volunteers. Baby birds are
fed every 30 minutes or so (depending on age and species) from early
morning until dusk.
