Here's an image of the Maxey pelican in January. I don't see the growths
on it's bill, so I'm not sure it's the same bird.

Would love to see live beaver at Lubbock. The pelican may be
identifiable. This one at Dunbar has funny growths on the bill; see pic
below. When I last photograped the pelican there were no growths; see
second pic. Or are these breeding changes in the bill?

BTW the most interesting thing I saw at Dunbar was big freshly gnawed
patches on the trees right against a broad swath of reeds on the north side
between parking lot and dam. Gnawing was 18" off the ground and on the
reed-ward side of the trees. BEAVER!!
