Sure, that’s fine with me.

Hi all!
I've recently gone through and submitted all my reports from this year to
eBird. I submitted my dowitcher photo along with the list for this site, and
got an email asking if I had any other photos to confirm the ID. Would it be
ok for me to send them your photo Joe? (Crediting you, of course).

Jennifer,
I went to that location today and I agree with you assessment about the
Dowitcher. I watched it for a while and I also believe it’s a short billed.
Lots of Sandpipers including Western, Baird’s and Least.
Thanks,

Subject: [leasbirds] Playa at 98th and Milwaukee
Jim and I decided to check out the playa at 98th and Milwaukee yesterday
evening. We spotted it after missing a turn the other day, so happy accident :)
There was a nice variety of shorebirds including Baird’s, Least, and Western
Sandpipers along with a lone Dowitcher and two Lesser Yellowlegs. I marked the
dowitcher down as a Long-billed at the time. I watched it for a bit and it
appeared flat backed, which turns out would indicate a Short-billed. Got mixed
up on which one is flat backed and should have gotten out my guide and taken a
closer look. Maybe it will still be around today. Several Burrowing Owls on
both sides of the road.
Not sure who owns this property, but no trespassing signs are up. They seem to
be appearing at most of the non-park playas lately. We parked on the side of
the road and scoped from 98th. It’s a pretty busy road, so use caution. A scope
is necessary for the shorebirds and Burrowing Owls.
World Shorebird Day is coming up on Sept 6 and the week long count runs from
Sept 3-9. More info here if you want to contribute sightings:
