Greetings All:
Is anybody else noticing a rebound of siskins at their feeders/water
feature today. Yesterday I was down to about ten but I have at least
twenty-six today!
I think some folk in the Texas ornithological community are thinking
this might be one of those rare years that kicks out a breeding report
- so keep an eye out for adult siskins feeding fluffier, seemingly
larger siskins with less pointed wingtips and less pronounced notching
in the tails.
Lockwood and Freeman note isolated breedings records from The
Panhandle and the South Plains and I know of records from Dickens
Springs (Dickens County), Lake Ransom (Lubbock County), and Stanford
Park (Cochran County). These records are from the latter two thirds
of May and the first half of June.
