Sheri showed up and got on the Louisiana Waterthrush and in short
order we had a male Northern Parula, three male Common Yellowthroats,
Hermit and Swainson's Thrushes, a Bell's Vireo, a Yellow-breasted
Chat, a Grasshopper Sparrow, at least three Brewer's Sparrows, a
stunning male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a Townsend's Warbler, and a
bunch of other stuff.
In addition to the male Black-headed Grosbeak I had earlier, Sheri
evidently just popped up a female Black-headed Grosbeak.
And, as I was typing this, a male Summer Tanager picked a moth off a
ledge edging a roof I can see from my fifth floor window.
The bottom line for the day: it is a miserable day to bird, with high
winds forecast through 7:00 PM, but it looks like it might be worth
braving the conditions. As with yesterday, I would point out that as
good as things are at my place of work, there are sites in Lubbock
with more extensive habitat.
